I've been to that old station in Maui. There are alot of cool old gas station buildings in Hawaii. Most of them are not gas stations anymore, but they are still there. Mostly old 76 stations. I have a bunch of pictures of them from the last time we were there (somewhere). I'll have to look.

This is long gone along with the Hotel......I visited the Hotel many times prior to burning down several years ago.

Imagine back in the day making the climb up Rt 30.....

    Thanks, John

  14. This one is in the north end of Joplin, MO right on Historic Rt 66.
Has been used as a barber shop for quite a few years.

This one is on Rt 66 (Main Street) in Galena, KS. Has been
rejuvenated by some women as a gift shop & snack place. That
old International boom truck is the one they claim was the inspiration
for "Mater" in the movie CARS.

This is the Eisler Brothers Store in Riverton, KS (on 66). A grocery
store and gift shop......probably a station in it's heyday.

On 66 in Afton, OK. Has been rejuvenated and being used as an
    antique car dealership now.

A little newer station in Afton, OK.

A resto job in Atoka, OK. I think it's the Chamber of Commerce
    office nowadays.

  15. This one is a "filling station" of sorts, in Wichita Falls, TX.
Its an old drive-in restaurant where they still have a license
to sell beer to vehicles that drive up. They say that when the
current owner passes, the license will end. It was a busy place
when we stumbled onto it one afternoon a couple years ago.

This current BBQ restaurant in Aurora, MO was originally a gas station.
Per the sign at the back, a guy named Don Ellis ran it.

Here's a pic when it was a Phillips 66 station. I think it later changed
    to Sinclair.

This was a Phillips 66 station in Aurora, MO....built in the 1950s....I
worked there in 1958 or 59....the father of a friend owned it.
We used to wash cars in one bay.....get the driveway out front
wet.....back the car out.....drop it down into low, and see how
long we could spin the tires. Guess the customers never found out.
The station has been remodeled in past years.....a little more
uptown than it was originally. The current owner, as you can
    see, is a Studebaker guy.

    Has this nice Stude hauler......

On the left is the remainds of an old Texaco full service station on route 29 north of Peoria, Illinois that served the community of the Lanes. This is where my family and I went for fuel and service. I used to ride my bike there to air up my tires.

The next time I make it out to Mesopatamia Ohio I will take my camera with me...There is a filling station that has been operated there since the 30's with a general store, soda fountain, ice cream shop, hardware store and a gas station. I passed through there last summer in my rig and had to stop just to check it out...Pretty AWESOME place right smack dab in the middle of Amish Country....

There is a real well preserved station a couple of miles east of Leavenworth WA. Anyone from that country have a picture of it?

  29. Remember the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes"? Here's a painting of the "Whistle Stop Cafe". This is where the Sheriff from GA ate the "Frank Bennett" BBQ. It is in Juliette GA.

    Here it is now.
