We often hear about a vendor who fails to deliver the goods or ships out questionable parts but, I found a good guy(s) on ebay. I ordered a YesWelder helmet after seeing one in a posted video awhile back and then the good 'ol post office had that box moving all over the US for nearly 4 weeks. It appeared to me to be another lost package so I sent a note to the vendor and asked for a replacement. They sent one out the next day on UPS and I actually got both of them the same day. Now, what to do...I contacted the vendor and they said if I wanted to keep the extra one I could have it for ½ price.

This lid is almost too nice to get dirty but, I will. Just what my old eyes needed.

Have you had a chance to use it and are you happy with it's performance?
I was just looking for a new welders helmet myself when your thread came up.

I really like the wide field of view and it is the most comfortable lid I have ever had.

As said above buy it half price and gift it

I still use the old helmet my Grandfather gave me 50 years ago so he could teach me to weld when i was 10.
any deserving kids in your family?

  10. The cost and durability of the auto darkening helmets have improved over the years. I bought a Jackson years ago as my first one. The field of view was limited, and after several years its function degraded to the point of being inoperable. I replaced it with a Lincoln Viking. A little pricey, but I like the "blue" vision and it is very comfortable with good field of view. I have tried some of the other lower cost brands and come back to the Viking.

I bought one for my son last year for his high school welding cl***. It is every bit as nice to wear and use as my Viking.

I bought one a few weeks ago, for the price its a great bang for the buck. I was torn between this and dropping the big money for a Lincoln. Decided to go cheaper for now. Its more comfy than my prior Tweco. The clear view tech is a hell of a nice thing for old eyes...

I agree with others, buy it and gift it or resale.

I have been using a Jackson auto darkening helmet for a few years now, when I saw this thread, I ordered one, just to see the difference. After welding a couple inches with a Tig, I stopped and ordered another one, since I have 2 Tigs in different parts of the shop. Not only is the field of vision larger, but it seems to work far better in low light conditions. Thanks Gary for the tip !!!!!

That panoramic field of view looks awesome! I have two auto-darkening helmets already as well as goggles for when you're tacking something and don't have the room for the full helmet (just don't sunburn your face!). Having two has come in handy several times for when you need someone to help you hold something or show them how to weld, etc.

My newest one has a much larger window and way more comfortable head cradle.

So OP’s word wasn’t good enough for ya? ;)

    Just yanking a chain.

After the post by 73Rr. I sent pm offering to buy his extra helmet, but he already had designated as a Christmas gift for a nephew or grandson?

I do need a new helmet. 35 years is about enough;)

Ordered and received the hood the other day; seems pretty comfortable. Hauled it up to the shop for a try out; but my buddy hadn't finished getting the floors cut out of his wife's new wagon. Maybe this week.

    It still is. :D

I don't use daily, and it'd no longer p*** for new, but, still pleased with it.
