Are you guys sick of these yet? Well mine wasn't exactly in a barn it was more like a garage/shop. I posted this on my newbie page but I'm thinking not many of those get read and since I now know how to post pics I would tell my story.
So the story goes like this, a friend of my dads bought this 32 body back in the late 80's with the intent to fix it up someday (of course) well he and my dad started building another roundy rounder race car so the body was put on this platform thing and hoisted up to the ceiling out of the way while he continued to gather parts. At the time I was 20 and joined the Army so off I went. So now fast forward 20 years. The car still sitting on it's platform[IMG][IMG]
My dads friend was now in his final stages of fighting cancer, he was a welder by trade and something to do with the fumes had given him cancer. My dad was one of his only friends who would still go and visit him on a regular basis so I asked what he was going to do with that old car body? He said for us to come up and look at it and see what we thought. I was interested but didn't make him an offer that day (he was not doing good that day and I didn't feel right asking him about it) so now fast foward another year and unfortunatly he passed away. My dad (a retired carpenter) and some of his buddies went up to put some new windows in the widows house that he had bought but was never in good enough health to put them in. So my dad asked her what she was going to do with the car and she said one of her relatives sons friends was wanting to buy it so I just tried to forget about it. The next weekend she called my dad and said if I was interested to give her a call and make her an offer. I called the next day and made her an offer, she said she would think about it and call me back....

Be careful not to low-ball her too much. When my dad passed, all sorts of vultures came out of the woodwork for his vintage 'Vette parts. It was pretty disgraceful... Good luck, I hope you land this one!

Soooo I lay in bed all night thinking I should have offered more, but I already have a 26T and didn't know if I wanted to start a project this big. The next day I called and told her I was upping my bid and she said if I wanted it that I could have it and that her husband would have rather me have it than some stranger. She said she never got around to looking on the computer to see what it was worth but my offer seemed fair. It was a LONG week but the following Saturday my dad and I made it up to get it. Our first job was figuring out how to get it down. [IMG]
So first we had to move all the stuff from around it just so we could get to it. [IMG]

Thankfully my dad had brought just the right stuff (chain hoist, I beam roller/clamp thing, sawzall, etc) we carefully hooked up the chainhoists and slowly lowered her down[IMG]
This was the first time I actually got a good look at the car, I guess it was a driver at one time as I see what looks like brake fluid staining the flat firewall (anyone have a factory one for sale?) looks like it had a pretty serious channel job, someone filled the cowl vent :( and frenched in the rear liscense plate, and of course cut holes in the dash for guages and a radio ugh! Still I'm not complaining. So of course the entire floor had been cut out. Thankfully he had all of the stuff for the car in one spot...

So with the body I found an original butterfly style hood with the stainless trim down the middle ( had a price of $50 on it! Wonder how long ago he bought that) also found all the garnish mouldings in excellent condition!!! Chromed windshield frame, fiberglass hood?!?! Box with what appears to be the material for the top insert, windshield rubber, one door handle ( need drivers side ) also had chromed windshield opening sliders and nuts, and a couple of low back buckets out of a mustang or something I guess??? Oh and the grill shell with insert (hole filled) and one heavy radiator. I think this is it.
Now we cut down the platform so it would fit in the trailer, and we were off....[IMG][IMG]
Trunk lid and panel below are in bed of the truck at this point.

Now after this poor car has been in dry storage for the past 20+ years it of course poured down rain the whole way home (around 60-70 miles) So now I finally have her safe and sound in my garage[IMG][IMG][IMG]
Still not sure exactly how I'm going to build it, ordering some patch panels next week. Who knows maybe I'll start a build thread once I get started. For now I like to just look at it and imagine what if. I know once I finally do get it done I will put in memory of on it somewhere as my tribute to the man who dreamed of building it but ran out of time.

Here is a pic of the seats[IMG]
Personally I more of a bench seat guy but we'll see.
Another great find was two days after getting it home and wondering what I was going to do about no title I pick up the trader paper and what do I see in the classifieds but an ad for a 32 ford coupe title!!! He was selling it as a historical document of course. I called him up and a deal was struck, I was a little nervous sending him the money order praying that ge would send me that title but I figured luck had been on my side so far so I went for it. If it hadn't been two states away I would have just went and picked it up. I'm proud to say that in the mail yesterday I recieved the "historical document" signed by the seller never dated and buyer spot open for my signature.
So there you have it, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. The wife refers to it as another piece of junk taking up space in the garage she can't even park in anymore lol. Just remember, it's always easier to get forgiveness than permission. Good luck to you all, sorry if the story was a little long. Like I said I'm new here and will try to keep you all informed on her progress. Thanks, and later.

I never get sick of 32 fords, especially 5W and I never get sick of guys finding them. I think your Dad's mate would be really happy you ended up with the body, do him proud.

Don't like to tell anyone what to do with there ride. But if it was mine it would be done in the line of the Rolling Bones hot rods. They are way too cool.

Yeah, I owe my dad a thanks for the help but......he is kinda repaying the favor for the barn/garage find I found him last year, but that's another story. Here are a couple pics of his 28 sedan. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
Hey I even hauled it to him!!!
