Yeah,my pal Steve bought this original pickup in Pigeon Forge,Tenn. in September of 2010 and brought it home and tore it apart.

He knew what he wanted to do and sold off the complete running gear to a Hamber.

He did some odds and ends but never really got to work on the truck because he was still working on a Mustang for his wife.

Friday & Saturday,,Steve & Dave used a set of Frame rails he got from me and tacked everything together.

I'm sure some of you are not going to like his choice of suspension but it's his truck and he is building it to suit his taste.

4" dropped axle, mono spring, Vega box 4 bar front and rear with QA 1 shocks.

The Flathead is out of his 51 Ford pickup and it has a T- transmission.

Due to me being under the weather I wasn't able to help so all I can do is offer up the photos he sent me.

The bed has been shortened to the same length as my pick and Daves.

Very cool truck(s). Just curious, what's not to like about the suspension? 4 bar vs. split bones or hairpins gonna get somebody's ******* in a wad or what?

Steve ain't a restorer, his a hot rodder and knew exactly what he wanted and when you start with something like this there is far less rot and rust to deal with.

Dan's truck is totally original with the exception of the later wires,,he also owns a couple of 3 windows and a 3 window Bonneville Car.

Daves has hairpins, disc brakes and triangular 4 bar suspension with coilovers,,Dave is a great builder/painter/upholster.

Steves suspension is built more along the normal lines of a strret rod from the 80's & 90's,,but the deviation from the street rod norm is the flathead & T-5 transmission.

I tried to build my truck to emulate something that could have been built in the late 50's early 60's taking cues from some of the earlier styles.

I knew I wanted a dropped axle and a reversed spring but it also had to have a Model A cross member and split bones.

For the rear I wanted a transverse spring with reversed eyes and ladder bars with a 9" rear.

I had a 327 SBC that belonged to my cousin that had p***ed away and wanted to use it in the truck along with the 350 turbo.

From the beginning I wanted to use a 5-speed but at 6'4" and having a bad leg with limited movement and the small confines of the 32-34 trucks I made the right decision.

I wanted wide whites and they had to be bias ply,,Steve & Dave both are using the same tires. HRP

  19. I love these trucks,
    I decided to be different, I got a '33
I would have had a hard time tearing that one apart,
but I do like the direction he is heading with it.

Is Larry possibly expressing regret over selling his pickup? If so I'm starting a support group for that very purpose. I held on to mine for over 25 years before finally deciding I could no longer fit inside the cab.
