    hi,
name is Gav, been lurking here for ages so thought it was time to post an intro.

Currently got a '29 Studebaker finished it about a year ago and have now got the itch to build something else. Would like to do a 30s/40s daily driver pick up if I can find one within budget! . Thats it for now.

    Cheers, Gav.

    Thanks for welcome,

just a bit of background to my '29. Brought it in 1996, at that time fitted with a tired 327 and independent front suspension (British ford cortina), 10 bolt rear axle.

I used it as a daily driver for 4 years, then it stood for another 3 when I changed jobs and location. Finally found a workshop to rent, initially told the farmer I wanted to rent workshop for 3/4 months to sort a few problems, got carried away and actually finished it 6 years later!, this included reboxing chassis, new crate 350 sbc (going to rebuild 327 for another project), fitting I beam axle replacing all wood supports and panels in body with steel, rewire and retrim interior, etc etc.

Did most of the work myself to learn as much as possible and also added benefit of keeping cost down.

Had to sub a couple of jobs out due to lacking of knowledge and skill on my part:
painting, which was done by a mate, windscreen surround made by uk company (called Brasscraft) and rear axle professionally narrowed.

Thats it, not exactly ground breaking and would do a few things differently now, but I did learn a lot while doing it and have a head full of ideas for next one.

have tried to attach some pics, but I'm not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to computers:)

    Gav.
