Thanks Rocky... Im'ma tryin to hurry.. But the hurry'r I go. The behinder I get.. I think thats the way it goes........****
You better be careful...............you may build your way out of a driving job making that HA/GR too quick
Thingy, Don't you feel even a little bad pulling out the big guns on us poor devils. For those out there that don't know who Mike Kirby is....he's the god of inline 6's. I've talked to him a few times and the man KNOWS. He runs a twin engine (6cyl chevy) dragster that runs in the 7's. Ron
Oh !!! He is just going to show me what to do to make the little motor live.. I'm not going to go all out on it..But you got to admit,Some of the motors here are pretty exotic...
As we all know wishful thinking sometimes turns into reality and we get what we wish for. That's what happened to my GMC. The better part of common sense went out the door and a GMC Frankenstein (sp) was created. Once committed there is no turning back. If (?????) the damn thing holds together it should be a pretty serious piece, and my partners and I will be able to make a decent showing at the strip. It's almost a clone to the engine Mike Kirby was running in his altered roadster. If it makes 75 percent of the power he was making I'll be tickled pink. Without a doubt having him as a consultant will reap rewards. Ron
the hurry'r I go. The behinder I get thats the most true statemant ever utter'd on the HAMB i think!!! best of luck with the finish! im hopin to get one built over the winter....
I have more photos of the almost completed ch***is.. It is a roller....Just gotta find our if Old 6 will put them up for me...
No sweat ****, send'em over. You going to have your HAMBster along for the 23rd? Sure would like to see it there, even unfinished. Would it fit in the box if you propped the front wheels up over the other car's front wheels? Hey, I'm trying here ..............
Personally I think yer 'chute may prove to be just a tad undersize but all the same, here 'tis .......... Lookin' good, ****.
Thanks Guys.. Last night My friend made the pattern for the cowl. While I put in the rear helmet bars. Monday I hope to weld in the front hoop of the cage and the side helmet bars. Well as of tonight, Roll cage finished. Now I got to get the engine back from Mike. Hook up the trans. and drop it in..Then all the little **** has to be done.. Race cars are fun,Race cars are fun, Race cars are, I have to keep telling myself that...
Well I finally got the "Covert" pictures from my Lapel Cam developed, and here is the spy photo's of Thingy's progress
After taking my head over heals fall last month. I've had a hard time getting anything done. But as the healing process continues I've been able to start working on the THING again.. I now have the May deadline to meet. So I got to force myself to get on the stick and finish it,, Guys my age (73) can't hit the concrete and bounce back like I use to..I'll be busy on it tomarrow..****..
Well Tom my friend,, You had better step on it. Cause I'm working on getting the Motor/Trans hooked together and droping it in for a trial fit.. Plus my friend Larry is getting things together for his new car...Will also be Chev.6 powered..And is trying for the May race also..
I'm on it ****. Hope to be there in May too, just have to see how fast I can get this thing together. Lookin' forward to staging with ya.
Hell...I don't even know if it will work or not. But as they use to do 60 yrs ago, Try something.. This is basically a stock 194 intake manifold.. That I cleaned up a bit with a sanding disc and bored out the single one barrel plentum, Put a radius on the edges, Built the top piece out of a piece of 2" by 4" rectangular aluminum tubing. Tapered both ends down and welded in pieces.. You notice it still uses the original 2 bolt holes off the manifold to hold the top piece on..Gonna use 2 Stromberg 97s..It might not work, But the stock one did.. Just addea a couple of carbs....Thanks **** for posting these for me..Still haven't figured out this computer yet....****...
Awwwwwwwww.. Got my rear cross member made. And the trans setting in there.. Now it's linkage time.. For the shifter (Old Hurst) and the clutch linkage..Time marches on..YIPeeeeeeee
