I searched on here and on Google and had no luck. I was wondering if anyone has ground out a set of Eldorado Legend GT tires? My truck came with them and they are like brand new. They are a raised white letter tire but I didn't know for sure if they could be ground out to white walls. Any help would be great.

  2. Haven't done that particular tire but I'm sure it'll work. Mine were raised white letter and worked great.

I think I will give it a shot next week. I will try a small area to make sure there is white underneath.

All white letter tires should have a band of white underneath. You should be fine.

I've done several sets using a 4 inch grinder with a fine flap disc and smoothed with a 220 grit on a DA sander...
    Things I've learned:
    • On some tires the white band of rubber is not a uniform circle, and sometimes you won't realize this until it's too late... :-(
    • Use no more than a fine grit on the grinder, you'll never get the deep scratches out
    • Do it with the tires fully inflated, you'll get a smoother finish
    • Clean with Bleach-white
the tires on the '38 and the f100 were done this way: the f100 tires were white lettered, the '38 tires were a narrow whitewall

I've tried grinding RWL tires into whitewalls, but the rubber eventually turns gooey and won't grind anymore.

I suspect my grinder speed is too fast?

I keep moving. Never stop, just keep going around or they will get gooey:mad::mad: never let them get hot!
