Any okies on here running YOM plates? I checked the law online and it seems to be legal, but local tag office isn't really sure how to handle.

Also, anyone have a source for these? In 56 (the year of my P/U) OK plates were 2 digits, a dash, and 4 more digits. The first two were the county number, 32 being my county.

I would really like to find a 32-**** plate for my truck and run it legally.

Its very simple. The tag offices gave me a blank stare when I asked about it, so I called the DPS my self and they sent me this link:

    http://www.tax.ok.gov/sp1.html

Scroll down to the bottom, and click the link that says "Vintage decal" and print it out.

Then you take it down to the tag office, submit the form ,and pay the fee. In a few weeks they will send you a decal to place on your window and you keep your normal tags in the trunk, backseat etc...

    That easy!

If any of you Okie HAMBers live in the OKC area, it is a LOT easier to take your YOM tag DIRECTLY to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, in the Conner Building, off the NW corner of the Capitol Building, along with the printed application, and you will get your approval for the tag (it can not be painted other than the original colors for that year, and MUST be an available number combination!), plus you'll get the decal right there. You don't have to mail it in, then. Makes it real easy.

Tag agents do NOT deal with YOMs, other than hand you an application!

Don't take your application to the tag office. Send it to the DMV. It states on the app. to mail it in with the fees. I'm on my second year running my yom. You still have to keep regular tag up to date. They will send you a renewal notice in the mail. It to has to be sent to the dmv. I have an Oklahoma tag for 1956, in pretty good shape.
