[ QUOTE ] So many people pay so much money and or time to get rid of that shit and you are painting it on like it is cool or a statement. Blagh I hate it [/ QUOTE ] Taht's cool man....I've never tried to fit in to anything, and by the way, the rust is on glass...AND IT"S REAL!!! [ QUOTE ] I do like the old logos though if they are actually for a real operating shop. [/ QUOTE ] It is a real shop, and I'm glad you feel better...have a good night
oh, i GET IT after seeing the poteet truck. ha! trade secret?? please, what kind of moron do you gotta be to not be able to figure out what kind of application and weathering it takes to make a 50 year old truck look 50 years old? or real rust on fiberglass? good hobby shops have rust kits, i'm sure a person could google up a ton of info on faux rusting. maybe i've live too many years in monnesota, maybe i've been around too many trucks that are used, abused, and worn out, to fully comprehend why someone would put all that work into faux finishing something that could be easily found with the real thing. whats next, trowelling mud into the fenderwells, using a tweezers and glue to carefully place bugs on the front? its not the weathering, its tha fact that its a plain jane truck. in perspective, that birdshit glass roadster in R&C looks pretty good.
[ QUOTE ] whats next, trowelling mud into the fenderwells, using a tweezers and glue to carefully place bugs on the front? [/ QUOTE ] gee, That's a good idea
You guys that are dogging Matt, should reserve judgement until seen in person. It may not be your thing but to each his own. All this negativity really sucks!
I'm curious as to why the phone number isn't JA5-6051, as in the 50's manner of reciting phone numbers. In this case, "call Jackson 5, 6051". Perhaps too confusing to potential customers who weren't around in those days. Never the less, it's a very interesting, creative approach to finishing a truck.
Doesn't really matter what you do to it - someone is going to hate it or find a reason you should have done it their way.
[ QUOTE ] I'm curious as to why the phone number isn't JA5-6051 [/ QUOTE ] I really wanted to do that, it would be JA7-6051. My dad had final say on the truck and he didn't want to confuse anyone.... J dub, Opinions are opinions, Take them with a grain of salt..
[ QUOTE ] What the fuck is that. I am sorry but I cant stand shit like that. Almost as annoying as these fukin pop ups as I am trying to vent. Great work on the paint job but that is fukin stupid. Why so you can look like something you arent. Cars gain carachter through time and experiance or lack of. And character is cool but when you paint on character it looks like you ar trying real hard to fit in "Just like the 50's" God i cant stand this shit I know opinions are like assholes but I had to vent on this situation. And what is with the fake rust man. Come on So many people pay so much money and or time to get rid of that shit and you are painting it on like it is cool or a statement. Blagh I hate it SLAMIT [/ QUOTE ] EAT A DICK ASSHOLE!!! it's people like you that suck all the fun out of life. don't like it? fine, move on and get over it but you don't need to be suck a jackass about it. you obviously DON'T GET IT!!!

I should of left mine alone............. But those two trucks are cool. F-1's are cool no matter how you paint them........

[/ QUOTE ] i guess not everybody is as knowledgeable as you Ray nor do we all have you exceptional taste. ---in case you did'nt pick up on it that was all SARCASM assface!!!! fuckin critics, i'd like to line em all up and shoot em in the knee, see how they like that!!
DAMN! who pissed in my cornflakes?? i just don't see any need for all the negativity. somebody worked their ass off on some of this stuff you pricks are rippin on. you don't have to like it but i think you could find a nicer way of putting it. you did'nt like it when i just ripped you a new on for your opinion did ya? well think how your making the guy who did the work feel, or the owner. have a heart. do you think everybody likes everything you do??? i don't think so, so grow up and try to be a decent human being.
[ QUOTE ] Calm down Mikey....Grain of Salt, Grain of Salt [/ QUOTE ] better give me the whole container today!!!
I believe the purpose of this post, so it seems, was to get people's opinion. Ray was just expressing his opinion.
Well, I like it, if it's done well and not over the top (like fake birdshit.) I saw a 32' a few years ago with new patina... looked so stupid. It was obviously a brand new glass body, new rims and tires, new tweed interior, and then brushed on paint sanded through here and there. It was a joke. Not sure about the fake rust, but I like the idea of the paint. Real useful when you lose the real patina fixing major dents and rust, or after a chop. I really like the logos, any closeups?
Donzie's "questions" were all tongue in cheek. Matt never asked for anyone opinions, he's not the type to even care what others think. He's not really the type that would even post photos of his own stuff. He's very low keyed. The truck is certainly doing it's job! A controversial post like this is great advertsing. Now everyone who reads this and is following along knows that Matt and his dad have a hot rod shop in Ionia and the phone number has even been posted in this thread a time or two. Just in case anyone cares, the area code for Ionia, where Matt and his Dad own a hot rod shop, is 616.
I guess that some people won't be satisfied until you paint it semi-gloss black and put some crappy flames on it. But don't use DP90 -- oh wait it is okay to use DP90 this week. I just can't keep up anymore. Well until there is a clear winner of the Suede Debate you should just leave the way it is... By the way, the truck looks really nice -- I like it alot.
[ QUOTE ] Anytime you post a picture up on the board.....you're asking for an opinion.... [/ QUOTE ] That's why I've never posted a picture!! Oh wait, I posted two of my Buick Roadster when I signed in for the first time, juststeve backed me up.
Well Guys, this has been a lot of fun, I've enjoyed everybodies comments. Not as much fun as driving the truck, but.....well, I think I'm going to go for a ride. Want to come along??
Whats the POINT? it looks like SHIT made on purpose? Makes alot of since, to build a SHOP truck and advertise a HOT ROD shop,,, yet build the truck to look like shit? HUMMMM.. Usually when your in advertising, the display item is going to show your neatest work... Not sure what the AIM, was here, but I think you hit a FOUL ball.. It doesn't even LOOK like PATINA.... germ
I gotta agree with Germ on this one, if they are advertising that there hot rod shop can take ANY vehicle, new or old and "weather" it than they accomplished there goal, but if i saw the truck from a distance and didnt know better the only reason i would want the number is so i could AVOID that shop, gives the impression that that cant even fix there own vehicle. I do appreciate the time and craftmanship but the message seems wrong for the intent. JMO
It reminds me of the guitars that Fender makes , they are called " relics " . They are fake aged and made to look all vintage and antique . I guess it is cool if that's what you wanted it to look like , you did a good job . That must have been ALOT of colour sanding . I think it is cooler of the paintjob ends up looking like that after many years on the road . Same as the ratbikes that are held together with bailing wire and string , after years of falling aprt on the road . I think " patina " should be found or earned . . . but again it isnt my truck , or my problem . As long as you drive the shiht out of it , then it does what a vehicle is suposed to do . Goodonnya
Will reserve my opinion on the paint job. Must say that I admire a guy who does it his way, caring not a whit for opinions... other than they're fun. Was wondering what you used on your running boards. Grandson is going to spray a bedliner (rhinoliner?) on his Jimmy. Was wondering if that would work on running boards... does that material trap moisture... become impossible to remove... that kind of thing. thanks. himmelberg
