I had a few people ask me, WHERE ARE YOU FROM AGAIN!?! When I showed up at a San Antonio party with some friends and other people that didn't know me.

Oh yeah, the vehicle I drove from Hutto to San Antonio, via I-35... Bone stock, unrestored '49 CJ2A with no wipers, horn, tail lights, turn signals, any creature comforts like seat belts, etc. The only luxury was folding down the windshield and tying it down to the hood for "ventilation", but more to maintin 45 going up hill...

Max speed was 55, but that I was going down hill and I was waiting for a rod to pop out and ride shotgun with me for the rest of the trip...

Yes i'm stupid. Yes Willys products rule. Got me to and from with NO issues. Not bad for driving for hours on end and nearly dying ever 5 minutes from other stupid drivers.

    Boy I miss that JEEP!

Couple of years ago, our vacation was a trip to Maine with the '48 Spartan Manor behind the '48 Pontiac convert. Several times people looking at the rig would look at the car, the Michigan plate, go look at the trailer, with the Michigan plate, and say, "You didn't really pull that out here with that car, did you?" How did they think we got 'em both almost 2000 miles from home? :D

sort of the same mentality with houses now.... everybody wants a nice new house with central heat and air, 4 or 5 bathrooms, walk in closets and a ceement pond out back. in other words, the stationary equivalent of a freaking Hummer on 24" wheels.

CULTURE SHOCK ALERT: i work for an Audi dealership now..... you wanna see some gadget-loaded euro-rods, they got 'em in spades. **** makes me laugh when i see what the parts cost to replace! i'm so glad i got a couple of OOOLLDDD cars to fart around with instead of that newfangled stuff.

    If I need a crumple-zone I'll aim for a Kia first.

We were at a cruise night once when these three twenty-somethings walked up to our flathead powered roadster.

They asked me; "So, there's no computer?

I said; "No, no electronics at all."

They said; "And it'll run like that?"

And I said; "Yea, it runs just fine."

    And they walked away confused

that says it all right there. i quoted a 1.8turbo replacement today just over 5 large in parts alone...... man for 5 large i could get a stroker 347 AND a built C4 AND intake, carb, headers, ignition.... and maybe a set of used TorqThrusts too.

and a bad sensor (even if it HAD one) wouldn't PUKE a windsor to death.....

I get this on my old honda from the "ricers" Someone on here called them a traditional tuner,I like that, They get confused because it has no computer,no fuel injection, manual windows, no air bags etc. I did ad power locks for the alarm, but now a days you have to really have one. I even moved the radio away from the dash with a remote extender. I always like the" 14 inch wheels? ought to put some 22's on it" Don't think so. won't even lower it, don't like s****ing things in the road. they'll be really confused when I put those dual 1972 carbs on it. :D. I get a lot of what kind of fuel injection is that? um it's not. it's a carb. whats that?

I drove my I/6 flat head powered 48 Plymouth to Reno for Hot August Nights, on to California and to Bonneville without incident, 4600 miles at 65/75 mph summer of 07. The Wife's 03 Olds had the electric fuel pump go out, $285.00 for the pump and $120.00 to drop the tank and replace the pump. I had it done because the tank was almost full when the pump went out. Cost $80.00 to have it flat bedded to the shop. On the GM cars when they start and die over and over you can sometimes get a large hammer and roll under the car and pound the bottom of the gas tank to get them to run again. The fellows at TxDot Motor Vehicle Division where my wife works rescued my wife by that procedure and she got the car home. I got four blocks away from home on the way to the shop and it quit in 8:00 traffic and no amount of beating the gas tank would restart it. It must be a one time procedure.

man, modern cars are what scare the **** out of me. when they added ABS, reactive steering, and all the other **** designed to allow complete dumb***es to drive at 90+ mph in relative safety they put the REST of us at risk. nobody knows how to apply brakes in ice or snow; how to steer around a sudden obstacle or correct a skid anymore... they depend on all that electronic ******** to do it for them. crumple zone my ***; a new car IS a crumple zone IMHO.

the best safety device to install is a hardened steel spike 6" long in the center of the steering wheel. EVERYONE will drive more safely then....

My friends dad told him that the roads are built wrong. They need to make the roads bank to the outside of the curve so that if you dont pay attention, you run off of the road. That way if you want to drive down the road, you would actually have to DRIVE.

can you even order a car without abs? it's been proven that a good driver can stop faster then a dumb*** with the abs, laws won't allow the spike, besides there would be people who would wreck you and not care. I liked the idea of a re dye in the airbag wouldn't wash off for a week
