These are a BLAST to drive!...After 2 seasons of wrenchin' on this thing, fatboy was ready for some seat time...

Only problem was I hadn't been on a track for over 25 years...
I was really hopin' not to make a fool of myself(what's new?)...

didn't do bad...12.87 at 104mph right off'n the trailer. Backed it up with a 12.89 at104mph....but the car needed some tunin'.

...so we tuned her real good and Kenny ran a best of 12.43 at 107!...a new Ramrods record!

The Hornets were right there too...12.42 at 105mph... (who cares?):p

Dang Larry those are damn respectable times and if you was bracket racing you be a killer. Wished i'd been there to see that smile on your face.

BTW i have a comment about the Fat Boy cage... If i were to biuld one for me then it would catch about the same resistance as a sheet of plywood. Hehehehehehe

    CONGRATS AGAIN DUDE.

Those pictures make me homesick for Tulsa. Started racing in '74. Last time I raced there was August 16, 1980, the Saturday before I got married and moved to St. Louis.

    Raced a 66 Chevy with a 396, 70 GTX with 440 and 69 Roadrunner with a 383.

Eat some Coneys for me, and maybe a Bill's Jumbo burger.

The Tulsa dragstrip is actually important in dragracing history. In 1972, Don Garlits formed the Professional Racers Association, and in a protest against the low purses at NHRA events, joined the AHRA (Tulsa was an AHRA track at the time) to schedule a major race the same weekend (Labor Day) as the NHRA's U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.
Garlits, Prudhomme, McEwen, Jenkins, and all the other big names at the time showed up in Tulsa instead of Indy, and Garlits made his point: the NHRA started to pay dragracers what they're worth.

I was there, and it was one fun weekend, with people from all over the country having a great time in the Oklahoma heat! I had just gotten my driver's license a week before, and my first car date was to take my girlfriend to this race.

Google Tulsa Dragracing Garlits 1972 and you'll find lots of info on it.
