I recently purchased a 41 ford project truck from a fellow HAMB member that coincidentally lives only a few miles away from me. Besides residing in the same city and knowing many of the same people we had never and likely would never have met. Besides acquiring a cool new project I made a cool new friend in the process.

To make this post and this 41 truck even cooler, the day I staggered upon the 56 Desoto Hemi that will power the PU, I stopped by a small watering hole outside of town and happened across another member. I was alerted to his presence by a perfect primer black hot rod truck bearing a HAMB sticker. I inquired inside as to the owner and met another new friend.

Who knows during the next couple of years during this build, who I will meet next and add to my minds rolodex of new acquaintances. @Moriarity is correct, you meet some of the nicest people on the HAMB.

When I first joined I was looking for a first edition HAMB knob. I talked to the right guy (HRP) and I had one. A friend lost his truck in a fire so I auctioned it off here to help him, and it bought a fair price. I do miss that knob, and am looking for another one, but totally worth it to help out.

In the past I have given tag toppers away or model cars to people that sign up for a alliance membership. Then one day I get a Holley carb shirt in the mail with a thanks. That is one of the best fitting shirts, and has that hidden meaning to it that makes me smile when I wear it.
    Thanks HAMB Tony

  9. Come January, I'll be going into my 11th year here on the h.a.m.b.. I have met some really cool people in that time, some have become what I consider to be good friends that I would most likely never would have met otherwise. I'm not at all surprised by Moriarity's experience, that's just the way this place is!

Good luck with that! You must have interminable patience to deal with that!

  12. Hey Mark, glad to see you were happy with the wheel, it looks great in your collection! Sometimes the stars align. And I've appreciated your contribution here for many years so to be able to give a little back brings a good feeling.
I also got to meet another motor head with similar interests and have already done some trading that helped both of us out so what goes around, comes around they say.
    Keep up the good work!

As far as I know, Steve in his present situation would be hard pressed to afford to buy one of the tires.

And having read pretty much everything I can find on the subject I'm doubtful that is true.

If the car still exists then given it's history and popularity surely it would have resurfaced before now.

There are a few copies floating around but none of them are the real thing of course.

I’m still convinced that he doesn’t really have any idea where it is.

Or maybe it’s now owned by someone in the federal witness protection program. :D

I cannot think of anyone I have met from the HAMB in person, save a couple people that I later found out were on here. I have had some dealings buying and selling, and most of those have ended up having voice communication by phone, and all have been friendly and humorous also. I had a guy join and contact me about a taillight I posted in an ID thread, that was a surprise! This is really a pretty cool place, scam artists excepted.

Yes the "Uncertain - T" has always been one of my favorites of the wild 60's - 70's hot rods....in fact I used picture's of its wind up key for the idea and building one for my uncle's wild big block powered VW bug...and to get back to the theme of this thread..... I have brought this up in other threads that I have posted in , but I will say again that I first stumbled on to the H.A.M.B. while laying in the hospital recovering from having my left kidney removed due to Cancer ..well it brought me back into touch with other hot rodders through the stories and posting of pictures in a way that was all
new to me ...the internet...well that was almost three years ago and after 8 operations and now only having 40% of my right kidney left.... I am delighted to say that I'm back onto building my hot rods and I have been communicating with members of the H.A.M.B all over the world.and have even helped a couple of them with items that they could put to use....so for bringing me back to my world of hot rods and customs to..... I Thank You all......Terry. (aka Rudestude)

side note.....went in and saw my doctors Wednesday and after viewing all of my recent test's and MRI's they informed me that I am currently cancer free...and that my remaining 40% is , by the numbers, is working great.......wow.... I Thank You .... IMG_20181130_190237~2.jpeg IMG_20181130_191056~2.jpeg IMG_20181130_190720~2.jpeg

I have bought a lot of stuff from people here on the HAMB. And I made a friend or two along the way... I just wish that I could work less and play more with my cars!!!
