Thansk Mr48 Chev... any particular place I could look at factory cores? They were both circular.

I'd have to do some searching. One of the restorer supply outfits might have a core for either but it may cut into the beer budget for LSR a bit. I was thinking square or rectangular.

Yea I looked on the Chevs of the 40s site for one cause it was out of a 47 chevy sedan, but no luck there. But if it was small enough I could put a square one in there. I had already set the heater up with an electric fan and painted it hammertone silver, man it looked great!!

There are some round 47 cores listed if you google 1947 Chevrolet heater core.
I did find these guys who say that they can recore almost any heater but either way it isn't going to be inexpensive.

Is that 47 heater out of a car or truck?

Back to your heater.....I was planning on using something like a Corvair 12 plate oil cooler and p***ing my transfluid through it to heat the car. You would need a way to stop the fluid flow into the car when heat was not needed. Some kind of small ball vavle would probably do the job. Anything with a blower that could house the small oil cooler ( approx 4" x 6" X 3 " )would do the job.
I have a trans cooler mounted in between the frame and the floor on the p***engers side. When it is cold out, you can tell the heat there would at least knock the chill off.
The best part of the oil cooler / fan approach I think is not having heater hoses running all over the place.

    Or..................

The dissection of a rear window... I'm not gonna take the full 8" out of the window, just gonna take 5" out and open it up a little...
