There are more than you think. They just don't post anything on here because there cars are a little newer than the early sixtys and they don't want to get their *** chewed.

Always be on the lookout for friends that may be interested in the hobby but may not necessarily know anything about it. Invite them to shows and gatherings, take them for rides in your car. Pulling an engine or chopping a top? Get them over there to help you out and put tools in their hands! That could be the kick in the A** they need to start a car of their own. Ive got friends of mine that Im doing the same with and its putting the gears in motion for them. Thats what hotroding is all about, the brotherhood and connections you make with other like minded individuals.

My dad had me help build my first car, a 1960 Chevy C10 long bed step side. I am now the proud owner of a 48 Pontiac Silver Streak. As the father of two young teen boys I plan having them help me build the car they will drive. It will have to be cheap and easier to work on. So 60s is probably the era will go after. My dad always says "you don't own it till you left some knuckle skin and blood on it".

It's hard for us young hot rodders not just finding people with the same p***ion but the pickings for pre 1960 cars that aren't clapped out are pretty slim

We were the young guns in the 90s. Unfortunately very few of the hotrodders from then are really as true to the craft as they like to imagine themselves. Too much parts flipping, ostracizing, exclusive at***udes, posturing and general snobbery. I dont get it. I can build circles around some of these guys but it doesnt matter. Their at***udes are financially oriented at the end of the day. Keep at it, learn the craft (you will find most people have no idea what they're doing) and real people will surface, and they usually are not the ones you would guess.
