I'm 23, don't know if that counts as the kind of young you want in this thread, but I consider myself still a kid.

This tread has a ton of awsome rides...it brings back fond memories of hours spent laying on cold concrete working late on Sunday to have it running for school in the morning. No $$ to buy the stuff you want/need, just making do and learning all you can. Now lets get some of you young gear heads interested in the Dry lakes and the Salt Flats.....get a rule book and build it safe and really fast. There are records just waiting to be broken, and by the way it don't have to have 4 wheels.....www.scta-bni.org

He just used some expanded metal mesh and a assload of knobbs from the hardware store (that was the expensive part). Yeah i think hes going to get the new sheetmetal for the front and get the frame straightened, even know he is broke haha.

What did you use for rear leaf springs on the coupe? Looking for springs like that to fit up under the coupe I'm building.

aye, ratfinkforever & my shop teacher has a deal with a local company so he gets 40% off the list price. i ordered about $450 of sheetmetal for $318.. i get to put it in this september.

see that patch i've sprayed primer brown? the fender has a couple sore spots. also, the driver door doesnt shut correctly because the cab has sprung outward - it's missing a rocker, completely.
it appears somebody tried to pull my truck out with chains on the front bumper, so there's a 30" section thats fully twisted a good 15 degrees. thats my recent project, i hacked it all out and im going to get some 3/16" steel and make it smooth/purdy for rechroming, eventually.

i plan on making it a bit of a rod for a while. paint it gloss black, lower it, put some wide tires in the back. eventually, when im a bit older and im full of money, ill make it an almost-show truck. airbags, 100% no filler, lotsa chrome, total bling. i promise to myself not to make it a trailer queen, however - i want it to be classy and showable.
for now, it's just going to be a street truck that has a few ponies under the hood. :)

as for bondo? join the club, i've got a bunch too. the whole bed needs rebuilding - the wood is rotted out, so the previous asshole laid 300lbs (thats the number from the dump receipt i have) of just plain shitty, rotted, mouldy, bug-infested wood ontop of the original slats. no joke, after it was all out, the truck rode 2" higher in the rear. also, the left panel was in an accident and its full of filler, and at one point where it cracked, some asshole BRAZED the frame back together with brass. what the hell!
even the wiper cowling had a bunch - it looks like it has never seen a body hammer. i tried my best to make it perfect, but there's simply too many ripples in the corner where i cant get the hammer in. a -bit- of filler went on, but it's much better than before. it'll do for now.

Parellel leafs in the back of a model A? wont the wheels sit a bit too far forward in the end? A Simple buggy spring is easy and not very expensive.

Well I'm not exactly young anymore @ 26, but "Chris" replied @ 26 too.

I uhh, well, didn't get the result I wanted - so this will be re-engineered. Not traditional and the "theme" is all over the place.

I'm 33 (i know but somebody here claimed to be almost 35). I have a '31 Model A project (will drive again when I get the engine back together and in it) and a '54 Anglia (drive it lots, but body needs help). The next project in line (pun intended) is the '50 GMC 100 Pickup I just got.

My son (16) started his rod 2 years ago. Obviously some new age influence. Now that it is street legal he is reluctant to put it back in the shop and finish it. None of his friends are into rods. They all drive pickups or POS ricer rides. He needs new friends.
