Hi! I've been around hot rods and old cars my whole life (I'm 25). Dad drove a 56 F-100, mom drove a 57 Chevy 210 Del Ray, and they were daily drivers until I was about 8 years old. Dad broke me in proper when I was 5 and taught me about oil changes and general maintenance, and was doing it regularly and for the most part on my own by the time I was 9 (sometimes needed help getting the oil filters loose :D). Since I went out on my own I have been tinkering with different cars here and there, and decided to finally get going on my own projects. First rig I picked up was a 1937 Dodge, which was a D5, but was cut up by a farmer who needed a truck....so that is what it is turning into. About 5 months ago I picked up a 65 Buick Skylark to use as a daily driver, running to the cruise-ins on Friday nights, and having a blast with it.

This was the first night I got the 37 home:

My 37 has been a work-in-progress for over a year, finally have all the pieces lined up and hoping to have it done this winter. The 218 Flathead that it came with was not original (its an industrial block from 1945) and from the looks of it has never been apart, although I did get it running.

It's in pieces now, someday going to send the block in and have it dipped. In the meantime it will get Dodge truck running gear until I can finish the flathead. The reason for the truck running gear is it will be a tow truck for my newest addition, a 1961 Hillman Husky (Series II). Haven't decided on what engine to use, but it will be a full tube-chassis rig. Just about done with my frame table, and supposed to be taking delivery of the rig right around the first week of October, so no pictures yet!

Hey man! I guess I should say welcome, too. ;)

Looks like you've got a kick ass start thanks to your folks. At your age, I think I'd only done ONE oil change! My dad wasn't exactly mechanically inclined so I didn't learn to work on cars 'til much later in life. Consider yourself lucky! :D

You've got some great projects and I can't wait to see how they end up....
