I'm curious what the dream rides are out there in hamb-land, whether you own it already or not. List as many as you like, just provide pictures.

1.) 56 Cadillac Deville (coupe or sedan is fine)
    56_CADILLAC_9139.jpg
    2.) 48 Buick Roadmaster Sedanette
    IMG_2544.jpg
3.) 28-32 ford roadster (haven't researched these enough to know what year specifically)
    ford__model_a_roadster_hot_rod_1930_4_lgw.jpg 1931ford.JPG
    4.) 39 cadillac convertible
    1939lasalle-3.jpg

Who am I kidding, just about any cadillac from the 30's - 60's

(Non hamb friendly would be late 60's Nova, 69 Mustang Boss 429, and MAYBE a modern day porsche 911.)

    So what cars inspire you?

Saw this car at the "Race of Gentlemen" last fall. Now I want one. Happens a lot.

If only I had Jay Leno's bank account... The first three that come to mind are a rendered 32 roadster, a 34 three window, and a 49 Mercury. In my mind the iconic examples are:

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1450142081.803056.jpg

Baskerville's roadster. I love this car, but also the story behind it, and the way he drove it everywhere.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1450142199.807682.jpg

California Kid. I know there are lots of other 34s out there, but this is what I see in my mind when somebody says "34".

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1450142318.840976.jpg

    Hirohata's Mercury.

I couldn't replicate any of these, and wouldn't want to if I could. They're inspirational builds. There are many others I'd build if time, money, and space weren't issues, but I can't think of iconic builds of Willys (though Stone Woods & Cook '41 would be up there), 57 Chevy, 40 Coupe, or a half dozen other OT muscle cars I've always liked.

I haven't figured out yet what my one dream ride is. But I have fun with the cars I already have...and a few of them are cars I bought because I wanted that year/bodystyle.

The dream car on my mind lately is a 1960ish Indy car, set up to drive on the street.

a true dream is something that is not tangible, and changes along the way. not to be restricted by what someone has already done. now if you had asked what ride would I like to have that is a different story.

  17. <--------- current, but I'm a self confessed hot rod *****.
Any hot rod before 1940s of any brand, and a few 1950s cars.
No graphic pastel painted billet laden **** though, trad style only.

"When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true." Jiminy Cricket. ( I know, a little lame)

Dreams are what get us off our lazy ***es and make **** happen. Inspiration is knowing that it CAN be done because some other fool had a dream and chased it. Dreams are what turned a kid with a "Hot Wheels" collection into a poor man's version of George Barris or the Alexander Brothers.

I had a dream that some day I'd own a roadster like the one's I'd remembered from when I was a kid in the 50's ( but I couldn't afford 20 grand with 3 kids and a house to pay off). So I kept dreaming, looking at magazines and waiting- maybe next year? Well, 8 years ago an old man (84) I'd helped out told me he had an old Ford he was going to sell if I was interested. I saw the car and almost p***ed out- a 1931 Ford roadster in a million pieces, but 80% there. How much? "Well, says Ed ( a little Irishman who still had a brogue), I bought that car 18 years ago, took it apart, and here it sits. I paid $1500. for it , and if you would like to buy it, that's the price." I told him it was worth more than that and he said he didn't care, that was the price.-----

You may now p*** the collection plate.

I have one of my dream rides. My 53 Chevy Belair hard top. I just need a 59 Impala, a 47-53 Suburban, and a 33-4 3 window ford coupe and I'll be set. [IMG]Hosted on Fotki

Chopped shoebox Ford is one,I have the pieces of that.Other one is a 27 T with a flathead---6 cyl Ford in it and OD.Trouble with Ts is I am 6' 4" and 275--I barely fit in the 6" longer than stock 23 T I have now.As someone said earlier, everytime I see something cool I want it

  21. My dream rise is just whatever I happen to be working on at the moment. I have to be totally into it to build it if it is for me.

Here's three off the top of my head..... There are many more.
Ironically I had two of them - a '32 5w and a '56 Nomad, my crystal ball failed me. Can't afford 'em now.
I do have '32 rails, chrome early front end, the Olds engine, a Drag Star w/six-twos, the Halibrand wheels and tires for the roadster. Just need a body and to keep dreamin' I guess
