While going through some old photos yesterday, I found this one of my 49 Fleetline that was taken before the scallops were added. Now that 60 years have passed, I think I like it better looking this way .....
I've had a early chevy chop top fantasy for a long while.... so I recently purchased a 50 2 door sedan.... priming the cutting tool now!!!!
I know I've told you before Bill, but I have always just loved your Fleetline and have saved pics of it for years in my reference file. I think it would be a hard pick for me to decide between scallops and no scallops on my favorite version.
My favorite one was my dads 49 like post #79. Ma saying you paid $400 for that,1960 prices .It was a real clean tan with a 216 later up graded in 1966 to a 235 by my stepbrother. When we moved to San Diego I rode shot gun 500 miles with Grand pa in it.
1959 Westside Long Beach Hello, I have ridden in several old, Chevy sedans over the years. Our cousins had a Chevy sedan. Their mom owned a 4 door 1952 Chevy sedan with some cool skirts. It was the first go “everywhere in town” sedan that we shared with our cousins’ transportation needs. Their mom was the primary driver and she took us everywhere on the weekends. During the week, the Chevy sedan was her daily driver to work. The other one was a lowered 4 door 49 Chevy “lowrider” during an episode in junior high school. That was a bumpy ride with a bunch of kids in the back , going to a neighborhood park. A friend's older brother picked us up at school and drove to the park. They each had their own characteristics for having fun and looking cool at the same time. When we were little, while visiting our cousins’ house, one of the “Kid’s” activities was to get in the Chevy sedan and emulate what their mom would do when she drove. Slam the gear selector lever into the next gear, slam on the brakes, stick her hand out of the window, daintily, to signal, etc. We were all laughing while playing charades…But, we did not go too far in this fun activity, as she was gracious enough to offer rides to us, since my mom did not drive at the time. The seats felt like short bristle material or pseudo suede. It took a beating from us kids as we piled into the back seat for our various trips. But, this older mom took excellent care of her car and was proud that it was “HER” car only. (an independent lady in 1954?) Jnaki For some reason, she really liked those funky “skirts” on her car. We always tried to take them off when we played inside the Chevy. There was a side movement lever that clicked when the skirts were ready to come off. I may have a slight bit of bias here, but that one was the subject of much attention and photography for us as well. It is pretty much my car in a coupe, but much nicer. Edit: That photo also reminds me of just how cold it was on Saturday. Car Shows for Men.
The jag-engined speedster is one of my all time favorite concepts...I love the coachbuilt sportscar vibe...kinda like a bastardized Harley Earl design. If you squint it looks like a design concept that later went on to become the production 51 or 52 models As a sidenote, has anyone ever noticed similarities between the 49-52 Chevy and early 50's Bentley styling? I always thought one might've taken cues from the other...
