Your first speeding ticket--How old????

  1. 17. I got pulled over like 20 times driving after 9 before I got popped for it, at the time you weren't supposed to until you were 18 unless you took the 5 hour course or had a job. Then I had about 4 tickets more or less in a row, the lawyer took care of at about $100 a shot. He always got them to non-point stuff with low fines.

Seems like I got the short end of things a few times, though. One town in a neighboring county I haven't driven in since, I got hit for a ticket for about 45 in a 30. Trouble is I was only doing about 35, the cop blew it up. More than 11 over is bigger fines and points, and the DA at the time was less forgiving to "out of towners" so even with my lawyer I had a bigger fine and I had points on my license for a while - and the town got more revenue. I got the blame for a couple accidents that weren't my fault, too - one, the clown passed me on the shoulder and clipped me, then told the cops I cut him off; another, a lady pulled out in front of me in a parking lot and never looked, but she and the officer who showed up were a different race than I was and I think that had a lot more to do with who got blamed than what the facts were. Goofiest of all, in my '60 Pontiac a cop pulled me because he didn't see the registration sticker, which with the wrap windshield was way around on the side instead of by the left corner of the hood... I pull into a parking lot because there's no place to get off the street (sidewalk, curb, no parking) and next thing I know cops are everywhere, the dumbass thinks I'm going in there so no one can see me shoot him or something. I said fine, next time I'll just stop in the middle of the damn road and you can get run over. At least I didn't get any tickets out of it, but it was a stupid deal to begin with. And I don't drive in that city much anymore either.

But since then it's been pretty quiet.

Oh, and the guy who passed on the shoulder? Insurance company said his car had signs of previous damage and awarded him a whopping $12.00 claim. We laughed about that a little.

First accident was @ 17,not my fault, then got my first speeding ticket when I was 18,then by 19 I managed to get a grocery list of various other street racing and general vehicular mayhem type tickets.......

All of which basically led to the judge taking my license for a year and stating in not so many word that if saw me again during my probation for anything,ANYTHING,even a parking ticket,I had better bring a toothbrush with me cus' I would be getting a free 12 month stay in the county jail.

As a side note,i just got my license back after almost 3 years:cool:

I have to have one of the top 5.
While I didnt get a ticket, I was stopped less then two hours after leaving the drivers testing station. Back then they didnt give you a perment license right away. You got a little pink peice of paper, your license came in the mail.
Cop pulls me over and does the "I got you for___ in a ___
zone" (cant remember the actual speed, this was in 1970)
Asked for my license and I whip out the little pink peice of paper. He said something like "oh my god, you havent even had this a day and your already breaking the law"
    He let me go
He was probably in shock :)

Got my license in July of '63, but no speeding tickets until summer of '68. I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY, on the KY-TN border. As my buddy Lloyd was a bit under the weather and passed out, I was driving his '66 Corvair 2dr hdtp back from Nashville early one Sunday morning. I can't remember where it happened, but a cop appeared behind me and pulled me over. I wasn't speeding, but it didn't matter. He cited me and had me follow him to this little cross roads town. I appeared before the mayor in the middle of the night, and he literally asked me how much money I had! He actually left me a couple dollars and let me go. Lloyd never woke up.

I swear this is true on my soul. I have been driving since I was 17, 1960 and I have NEVER had a ticket nor an accident. I always drive hot cars and rods, bikes too. Just lucky I guess...

  8. Mine was lame... 81 on the freeway in a Saturn. I didn't even think it could do 81.
