We do more metal working than anything in out shop so "rust dust" is an issue on leaving anything out like batt chargers or the shop computer. We usually clean when needed after a project but the storage issue comes into play on every surface somthing ends up there...
I pick up sometimes a couple times mid-stream just so I can walk w/out gouging my expensive tools into the concrete when I walk across them.. I was always told "A clean shop is a DEAD shop!, If there's time to clean up, it's cuz there isn't any work"....and judging by the looks of some of these garages, the guys push their stuff outside to work on it, then push it back into the clean garage! But my shop is by no means a pig sty or crammed full of junk either...just what I need to work...no bicycles, mowers, tv's or other non-garage items
Smokin bill! That garage is awsome. Wish mine was that big and had cars like that in it. Looks more like a museum display then a garage.
Join the club dude i can clean my shop and it still looks like a friggin bomb went off! Never enough room or cabinet space it seems like huh?
ive found that if I clean my shop up after(sometimes during) a days work i feel much more enthusiastic about being there.
i actually enjoy putting stuff up and keeping things neat. i do sweep usually every day because of the mess i make but don't do any real "cleaning" just put stuff back. my shop is neater than my house usually, my wife might disagree.
With my small shop, 12' x 30', and having the body off of the frame of my project, i've learned to walk sideways with the utmost efficiency.
My Dad always told me to "Wipe down my tools when I put them away, and sweep the bay at the end of the day"...
Fu*kin A man. I crawl over ****, under ****. thru ****. Never stepped in **** yet however. walking sideways is a must.
mines a mess! Usually sunday evenings are my clean up time.Once i get all the tools and stuff put away i take the leaf blower to it, best way to "sweep" it out!
Mines a mess right now. I got my c-10 torn apart for paint, the dart under plastic, and third bay holding a go cart and ***orted ****. Never enough room
as for me my garage it the first one in almost 15 years that i can fit a car in, it's nice when you finish up for the day/night and you can just leave tools and parts right where you were working and pick up where you left off, at my last few houses i had to pack everything up just to go to the parts store...i do most of my work in the middle of the night while the family is sleeping and at least twice a month i clean up the shop, it's nice to wake up in the morning and see everythig where it should be... oh yeah and having a three car garage is a dream come true
Having a tiny garage you struggle to do anything in unless it's tidy. Lots of hooks to hang **** and also a mild case of OCD does help.
I clean my up after a project. If I put tools away during a project, I will have them back out within minutes. A good plan never goes the way you plan it!1
