Hot Rod Mag. All you Californicators, are just lucky that so much raw material went west on route 66 in the 30's
Mom, cruzn and boyfriends My mother and her girlfriend were the first to take me cruzn on Second Ave in ElCajon California in the early/mid 70's while Dad was overseas. I BEGGED her continously on Friday and Saturday nites to take me to check out the hot rods. My family wasn't into old cars nor did I own a hot rod mag so none of us can figure out how or why at the age of 13/14 I was so into hot rods. Where exactly did the desire come from??
1. as a kid=Models[most important] 2.1965....saw a Stolen A/Calif- Hotrod in Mo 3.Junkyard as my first job.
Hot Rod Magazine (in 8th grade I would go to the library to "study" and then one day out of the corner of my eye on the magazine rack I noticed an issue of H.R.M. so i picked it up flipped through it and I was hooked lets just say that the studying of american history, english and math was no more, wish I would of balanced the reading of Hot Rod with the actual studying but i couldn't it just turned into a full fledged addiction I would have mom drop me off two or three nights a week and just read through stacks of that magazine...man those were the good old' days..then again that wasn't even 10 years ago
1. got a ride in a blown 'T' bucket when I was 7. 2. raised by a phenominal fabricator, Dad. 3. going to car shows as a kid.
