Your personal top ten.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cliffy, Mar 2, 2008.

  1. So I finally found a car I have been dreaming of for the last 15 years. I am one closer to my collection of cars that will have to be sold off by my kids when I die because I won't ever sell them.

Makes me think of my "Top Ten" list of must have rides. Let's list our "top ten" and show how close we are to the goal. I guess we can include motorcycles and other types of motorized vehicles as well since it is kind of unrealistic that the everday joe can have ten cars.

The rules are they must be obtainable.....meaning you can't have anything on your list that you would never be able to afford or obtain. So one-off cars, cars that have been destroyed and cars too expensive are off the list...unless your going to win the lottery or recreate something.

    So here is my list:

#1 - 1954 Desoto Firedome Sportsman - Purchased this past week!!!!

#2 - 1957 Ford Fairlane Victoria 2dr HT - Have one but way to rusty to restore - Have a '57 Lincoln 2dr HT Premiere that is close enough I guess.

#3 - 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix 2dt HT - I only like this car because of the dash. I have one, needs a full resto but I do have a set of Cross rams to go on it when I do!!

    #4 - 911 Porsche Targa or Carrera, any year. I have a '73 914 2.0, not even close, but a start.

#5 - 1964 Lincoln Contenental Convertible - Had one, sold it this past fall. I will buy another down the road when the right one comes up.

    #6 - '55-57 T-bird. I prefer the '56. I just sold a project '56. I will get another down the road when I have $$ to burn.

#7 - '32 Highboy Roadster with a Hemi. I thought a T-Bucket would suffice, but it won't. So if anyone is looking for a bucket, I have one for sale.

#8 - Late Model (05+) Mustang GT. When I have an extra $30,000 to burn I will have one as my daily.

#9 - '65 Galaxie 500 fastback - I have a nice one at this time, big block 4 speed. I have owned as many as three at one time, have owned 6 in my lifetime, all big blocks, two XL 4 spds.

    #10 - '64 Galaxie 500 Fastback - I have a nice one I am finishing up right now.

I could probably make a top 20 list, but one can only have so much stuff.
So what is on your list?

  2. #1 40-41 hemified Willys coupe
    #2 57 Chevy sedan big block 4 speed...got that!
    #3 57 Ford custom 2 door sedan 427 4 speed.
#4 55 Chevy sedan big block 4 speed.
    #5 32 Ford coupe 427 4 speed.
    #6 61 Chevy 409 dual quad 4 speed.
    #7 67 Vette big block 4 speed
#8 54 Chevy small block slammed.
    #9 69 Impala custom 327 like I had when I was a kid.
#10 Anything that makes my dick twitch when I see it!

I've never had a list...I don't know why...most of the cars I want are pretty plain and cheap, I'm easy to please...

  6. Ditto...sort of. I wish I had my 1954 Buick Hardtop back. Would also like to have my Cushman Eagle or my old Allstate step through back. I've held on to my Triumph TR4 for 20+ years. Beyond that, I really don't care about owning cars. I just like working on projects. If I ever finish the current one, I don't expect to hang on to it for long.

Now, this is not in order, as the order would change everyother day

    1) 1940 ford coupe hot rod circa 1947. Check. Almost ready to drive, not yet perfect, but drivable

    2) 1932 Ford 5 window hotrod circa 1947. starting this year, starting to look for parts now, got the drivetrain, need everthing else. got anything you want to sell me?

    3) 1932 Roadster with a Frenzel circa 1947. Id settle for a brookville body for this one, but thats the only repro body i could live with, i aint never going to shell out for a real one,

    4) 1929 A Roadster. B engine, HAL DOHC. 100% stock except the HAL Need the sheetmetal and HAL.

    5) 1948 Norton Internation motorcycle, Concourse Quality. Have one all lined up, just need to be ready to buy, when the guys is ready to sell.

6)1941 Merc convert custom circa 1947/48 (whats with me and 47/48?)

    7) 1927 T hotrod circa 1935

    8) 1961 Thunderbird coupe, circa 1961 or so. Wow, what modern Iron, i must be high.

    9) 1931 A coupe with a 331 Cad. Circa 1949. Need a block and a body.

    10) 1935 Ford Roadster. Concourse except for an intake

1 is almost done, 2 is next on the list, 4 or 5 will come after that, but i have most of 4 already anyway, then the other. As of right now, those will be the most likely of my goals to be achivied in the foreseeable future.

I'd like a belly tank LSR style car one of these days; it's next on my list after I get this nostalgia funny car I'm currently building finished & raced. Otherwise a 55 Chevy and any '62 -earlier vette done gasser style, of course a 32 Ford Coupe and/or a hiboy roadster, maybe a T bucket, 40 Chevy or a 33 Willys for good measure.

And my 66 Chevy II that I never should have sold to go stock car racing back in 1982......

    #1 32 5W...early 60's style...

#2 late 40's A Modified...with a banger and a wraparound Perspex windscreen. saw it in an early mag. LOVE at first sight.
I'll put a Cotton Werksman or Bob Knaack style T Mod right at #2 as well...but lets face it...they aren't gonna give them away...and if I were doing the building myself...I'd do the traditional A Mod first.

    #3 55 Chevy post, Street GASSER...straight axle, leafs...setback 409, carpet interior with glass buckets...6 pointer...4' lift bars...oh yeah...

#4 Special...tight space frame, maybe a Jag XKE twincam 6 or something else interesting and obscure.

#5 Early Renault bubble panel van. Gasser style...or maybe SOLO cone racing spec! I'm adaptable...and the thing is so dorky its cool in any form!!!

#6 late 50's English Ford GASSER. ALMOST had the entire unmolested body....sigh...what COULD have been...(Although I DO know where there are 3 stripped out shells...Hmmmmm.....)

    #7 and beyond?
I'll know them when i see them!
