  3. [They are 100% polished stainless steel ~ both frame & bars,my only complaint is there is no crank hole. HRP
HRP, as stated up above, there are more than 50 different SS compounds within 5 categories. I agree the 400 series is probably the best you'll find in the automotive world, we use 304L and still you'll get rust if the SS is exposed to carbon. Some idiot grinding carbon steel pipe nearby will infect the SS pipe and give the appearance of rusting. If you want to get rid of rust on SS you'll need to passivate the metal, use a good citric acid bath (yes read lemon juice) and it'll get rid of the CS deposits. CS will actually "drill" into the metal, produce micro holes in pipe. We had real issues in the past with bad welds, even using files on CS pipes and then for SS will contaiminate the SS pipes........Yes, ALL SS will rust given the right environment. We make WFI (water for injection) and you just wouldn't believe the controls and history you have to maintain on the pipng systems, from the time they were born in the factory until they are proven in the process.

Clem, "Original grill shells vary in shape and size". Please explain. When I read your statement i just had to measure the three Deuce shell I have hanging on my garage wall. Mine are all the same dimensions measured with a stick ruler. Commercial is different, but what varies in shape and size?

Seems to me the Ford Motor company is very quick to come down on anyone who does not have a licensed Ford product sticker on repro parts why not report it to them and let them sort it out and in that way support the companies producing quality parts as Ford require?

  9. I have had a Vintiques insert for about 10 years now - No rust to this day

  10. I used a Dales insert in a couple of my cars and they were by far the best made next to a original. Funny enough they were more expensive to have plain steel bars instead of stainless. Well worth it though once painted French grey. Wish a company like united pacific would take the reigns and produce them again.

Just make sure you don't have any containers of muratic acid in the garage. Even in a closed container, the gasses will leach through the plastic jug and corrode metal up to 10 feet away. Ask me how I learned this.

We cut two to make one good one and the insert wouldn't fit back in.
Found out after I painted it !
The vee at top of grille is shallower on some and also the bottom where the crank hole is.
Top to bottom was 3/4 of an inch difference on my sedan compared to the coupe.
Ours all came from Canada, so maybe that has something to do with it.
Made in 30 different factorys, around the world, one has to expect discrepancies.
Real busy atm other wise I would do photos to better explain.
