    HI Guys,

I am working on this kit. This may be the worst plastic kit ever produced. But I am doing my best with what I got!
I plan entering it in the MASCAR contest in late March.

My plans are to build it out of the box. However there are some parts that are just not useable . I had to replace the rearend as the original was shaped like a horseshoe.
I dont care if this thread is a day early! Fine with me.

I built that POS last year. Revell's quality control was just about non-existint in that era. (Early 70's, I believe)

  10. Slotracer,...a buddy of mine did the box-art for that kit. The art-work is better than the kit!

A couple weeks ago a few of us did an over nite build. I was out of town that week so I did mine from a hotel room. I sectioned this 49 shoebox and followed an old model car mag from 1963. I am also working on this lil chevy which will be a curbside build i think.

here's what i've been up to lately.

it has a 100% scratch built frame, suicide front suspension, 9" rear end with a 40 ford spring, black steelies on wide whites, a shot up oldsmobile body, and as of now, a pretty wild interior! the interior isnt what you would expect in a car like this.

is the Milner dragster model still in production ? I would love to build that one. I just picked up a kit by AMT of the Stardust Don Schumacher digger.

So in wanting to build a Caddy I got a Revell kit of the 58 Brougham. I didnt care for it too much because they split the body 3 ways on the sides and everything was in black plastic, oh yea.....no motor or WWW? I need to practice painting on whites. The only good for the black plastic was I made a good attempt at the stainless looking top. So I lost interest and rushed it a bit, even painting it gold left over from the Merc build. I did slam it though.

Also, did you ever loose an important part to a model .... like the glass? Thats the reason for the removable stainless top. The glass will show up sometime. Just like my real Caddy, freakin glass!

I'm happy to get a '32 Sedan to start and give it a finished "Rat" look to it.

Here are a couple shots. I don't recommend these types of models though. I like a clean one piece body to hack up.

I've been away from 1:24-1:25 scale model car building for a long time. So, on Friday night I decided to start a project that would be finished by tonight using only what I had on hand. I'm updating my progress on another site:
    http://wwwboard.spotlighthobbies.com/index.pl?read=1326603

The rod is an AMT '34 Ford pickup with a mid-mounted 4-banger from a Revell '29 Ford. The rear suspension is non-H.A.M.B. friendly while the front end is a dropped axle from a Monogram '29 Ford street rod kit.

The major parts were painted late yesterday so they could dry overnight. Today is final assembly and detail painting.

This model project is more about process instead of an end result, though. I started it with no plan and as it progressed I've been building instead of planning. So, even at this stage, I don't know what I'll be doing for wheels/tires, lights nor whatever else still needs to be added. I haven't a clue as what to use (or if I have anything to use) for the gas tank.

You can also see my photo gallery for this project at:
    http://gallery.atpic.com/25798

Feel free to follow along and provide suggestions, critiques and comments.

As I said, the model will be done by tonight so I've been cutting some corners in the build to be sure that it will be finished.

Amen to that! I've been working on a Futura, which is also a multi-piece body. Nearly impossible to get one together straight, and smooth the multiple join lines. That Caddy sure has some pointy dagmars!:D

  24. Here's what I'm working on, It is in the process of getting painted now, It's a Revell '32 roadster with Replica and Miniatures vintage suspension chassis, and the Hemi from the AMT '57 Chrysler 300

  25. Does Replicas and miiatures have a website?
I've googled and found a bunch of dealers, but no direct link.

  26. Awesome builds this week guys.

DakotaJohn where'd you get those headers?

ol'skool29 is like the bullet holes.

Hingeman Kustoms that thing is just plain crazy.

  27. Replicas and miniatures does not have a web site, there are pics of most of their items on Fotki on Davetoups page, the headers are from the AMT Phantom Vickie, they fit the old hemi's perfectly!!

I say bullshit on earlier than Sunday posts, especially when you aren't posting any pictures.I see you're adding to your post count though. It's been called Sunday tradition for years .....just my opinion

  30. Sure looks like he posted pics...second post.
    Too much coffee?
    Where are your models?
    Just asking.
