im sorta confused on this whole concept but a few people told me i have to do it if i want to channel the car all to hell .... i have a 31 model A .original frame boxed ... how do i kno how much i should Z it... does it relate to how close to the ground i want the body after i channel it ? any help will be much appreciated thanks tom
Channeling and Zing are two completely different and unrelated modifications. Meaning you don't have to do one to get the other. Zing the frame at the firewall could give you a channeled look without sacrificing room though.
ahhh for this car im sacraficing all comfort for looks shes already chopped 6 inches so im going all the way..... i wannt the car on the ground .... thats what im asking if i want to channel the cars 8 or 9 inches would i have to Z it??? i dont kno much about the Zing thats why im asking
There is no sense channeling a car more than the width of the frame, unless you want to section the car at the same time. Otherwise the body hangs lower than the frame. Zing the rails, basicly means making a zigzag in the frame to get the rails up to clear the suspension. The side rails, where the body mounts move down for a lower profile. Search the HAMB archives for examples.
Maybe this makes sense? Channeling and Zing are different modifications. You don't have to do one to get the other - that's as plain as I can say it. If all you want is to get your car on the ground you've got plenty of options...and channeling doesn't even have to be one of them. Just beware of people that tell you what you NEED or HAVE to do. I'd suggest a close look at cars you like paying very close attention to the frame and suspention setup. You might get a look at how tall the driver is if you get a chance too. Good luck.
If your chopped 6 inches I'd do some measureing and make sure your gonna fit in there after you channell.
331 Caddy, If you have it chopped 6" there is no way you can channel 8 or 9" and still drive the A.Zeeing the frame front and rear will get it down as low as you want it without channeling it. I would look into that before you jump into a problem.--TV
The point is you want it low. So Channel it over the frame and then Z it to get it as low as you want. You can also flip the frame rails on thier side to get more room in the seat.
im about 5 foot 7 so height shouldnt be to big of a deal everything is now becoming alot clearer im just tryin to get a feel for things im not doin any cuttin yet ...... yet haha thanks guys
