But what if you reversed that shit and had Bill Mitchell design a Ferrari in 1963?

No Bill Mitchell belt line crease? Bitch please...

    F-it.
I’m going to go back to repairing my 34 speedo.
    At least that’s something I understand :)
I’m a sci-fI nut too. I worked with some of the first robots used in manufacturing in the early 90’s. Never did I think it would evolve to this unbelievable scenario.
    Cool as hell!!

I'm not sure if it's by the same guy or prompt...but there are some off topic musclecar mixes going around, they favor De Tomaso dipped in Pontiac, or Rambler/Fairlane. I think these can be instigators/ influences, but again.....soulless to a point.

Notice the fingers on each of the people from these new prompts. The lakes racer looks like he lost all of his fingers, and the guy in the Bill Mitchell designed Ferrari pic looks like his fits can't be unballed. Also notice the roundel on the '32 roadster is clearly meant to have lettering and numbers but it's garbled. Those are your cues to know if this was generated by AI or not.

Plenty of people are touching up AI pictures to correct these things, but it's something to look for when you're trying to differentiate AI generated stuff from human generated stuff.

I skipped a bunch so if someone already said this sorry. At first sight it reminded me of the 55 Chrysler Falcon. They had one prototype built that was a convertible, 2 seater, with side pipes and an early Hemi. I had a book called "Cars that never were", and they had an article on the Falcon. In the 70's the cars whereabouts were known. It was owned by a South American Oil guy. I never tried to follow it, it may still be known.

I read a story about the one that went to South America. Just doing a search I found pics of 5 of them?

So what AI generally does is index shit on the internet and refer to it when prompted… so, imagine AI as a dude with google wondering what a GM prototype looked like in 1958 to use as reference for his own art. What’s the first return if you search GM prototype in 1958? The firebird iii.

    IMG_0109.jpeg

Wedge shape, no quad lights, etc…

Now…let’s ask it to design a production car from GM in 58:

There you go. All of the examples that @Ryan has shown us are what could have been and what still may be. The 1949 Delahaye 175S Roadster, the design of which was the result of two men, Jean Louis, chief design engineer who died prior to the first production 175S and Phillipe Charbonneaux, who designed the new front bodywork with the heart-shaped grille. Compare it to any of the examples we've seen. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful vehicles ever built. At this time, I doubt that AI could have ever come up with anything like it. I would love to go to the Alfa Romeo Museum, just for the privilege of standing next to the OT 1967 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale. These came from the minds of men and were fabricated by real artists, people who have a thought and can produce a finished vehicle, much like any number of HAMB members.

    AI = Artificial Intelligence.
    Pretty heavy discussion.
Created by humans….. BUT AI now can make decisions so no telling where it’s all going.
    Something like that.

    Computations / creativity on Steroids.

    Let’s play Tick-Tack-Toe.
    I’m X
    AI is O

I go first with X in the center cube ….

Not to make light of my post above.

There is a very big difference between “art” and FINE art. Jeff has always been sort of a step above…

  19. Amen. The AI is interesting for sure, kinda scary, but Jeff’s work is absolutely incredible.

Prompt: Catalog the industrial design of Braun from 1940 to 1955. Using that catalog, prototype a dash for a Ford from 1955.

Artificial Intelligence is really a misnomer, it can't think and it's not sentient, it can only write or draw based on the data it's been given. That name was given to it to create a buzz for funding. Although that's a slippery slope when you compare it to people and how they learn to speak or draw.

I like the red convertible with a guy sitting in the passenger seat but no driver. The computer doesn't know why that's an odd scenario, another tipoff to it being AI. Still, those are some pretty impressively realistic designs of 58 GM design study cars.

And I'm sure it could come up with some Delahaye style designs if prompted.

I thought all the cars in the original post were great designs. Not a single floating turd in the punch bowl. I guess I just don’t have an eye for fine design.

Yes. True… But AI can gather far more data points than any single person could possibly dream of…

I started this joint saying it was going to replace print… ironically, this place will most likely be replaced by AI eventually.

I like just about all of the conceptual stuff I’ve asked it to do… Here’s a simple one - what would a GM designer’s desk look like in 1954?

    IMG_0113.jpeg

Didn’t provide what I was really looking for, but spit out some cool shit…

The sample of what you have shown is quite beautiful to my eye also! I wish the factories could build stuff like those today!

Naw we'll just know when Ryan is out and had to use diodes to be him...

...The silver lining in that statement is he's still down to earth even though he's on top of the future so my poke at humor is unlikely to ever be reality. He has to be on top because the HAMB is the future but of course...Future Proof...it's in the Mantra

I guess Don's art is incredibly popular in the images on the web...so ole botty draws from it heavily...it may even use artist popularity or success as a standard it works too...

It's totally understandable this stuff will remind you of the past...why?...because it's built on it...all the imagery and text it uses is past/done...so that's why we see similarities to former Artist's...and that in fact is what worries those in these careers...they walked the walk and now One who has only a description with no talent can pump a print out and frame it or mass produce prints and become a millionaire doing it...or replace staff that perform such duties...

I suppose it even analyzes a signature...never noticed if these Robotic works sign their work...

And don't forget, Raymond Loewy, he was the genuine article, some of the most elegant, well thought out, industrial designs, that have always been very inspirational, to many generations!
He definitely demonstrated what creative thinking can produce!
