A lot of high performance engine builders won't warranty any engines that weren't equipped with a roller cam these days, can't trust that the general public will know enough about putting the right oil in. They offer flat tappet cams as options with big bright warning stickers and tags on them to use the right oil. My brother in law got a 454 built last year with a roller cam just so he didn't have to deal with the hassle of worrying about what oil to use.
