I looked at that chart that Car Craft did . I notice they did not lab test GM EOS , This has been recommended to me by more than 1 person and was in my last 3 builds with no cam issues .
In my 54 with a warmed 235 I use Joe Gibbs break in oil, its gotta be good because it smells like gear lube seriously though, I have put some miles on this engine and have not always been ginger with it and it runs great, actually running that joe gibbs oil helped my rings seat better as well.
My buddy at Torco seems to think that 1200-1500 is the correct amount for a long and happy life. The other thing that no one ever seems to think about is the amount of "Detergents" that will wash the Zinc back off. If the Magnesium and Calcium are too high, it starts to negate the zinc and phosphorus properties!
I have driven a Babbitt pounder 216 splasher Chevy six for 31 years. Same engine and the same oil (Kendall 30 wt) and I change the oil every month and the canister filter (WIX)every other month. So far no problems and now I'm thinking about tearing it down and at least having the rods machined to use insert bearings. I do plan to have the crank mic'd and also change over to a '54 Chevy 235 oil pump and syphon tube. It uses very little oil and the only additives I use are in my coolant mix and it is a product called NALCOOL. The thing has never overheated on me. Normbc9
