Hot Rods ZIP WATER PUMP RISER FACT THREAD!!!

Im gonna pick up some coolant system flush and flush it out then use the vac to **** it down and pull in the coolant. See what that does. Also check the true timing and adjust. If that doesn’t fix it I guess I’ll get a water pump with the back plate then pull it apart and see what pump he actually has in it. Swap if necessary. Check the pulley diameters and also
Make sure the belts are truly tight. If all that doesn’t work I guess my motor makes a little too much heat with those afr aluminum heads. Maybe need to go back to a standard sbc pump and god forbid it but my buddies over at Racestreet garage make a nice shroud that uses a brushless fan setup sourced from Vintage Air and that is all they run on their builds due to these types of problems. I really don’t want an electric fan on this truck it’s too traditionally built for that nonsense haha

I have run the Zip on 400-434 sbc
as much as 12:1 street driving A's & 32's.
Most coolant issues is timing & carb.
Just mention agin moving temp gauge around you will see different readings
The more you Monitor / know
more questions you will have .
back of intake hotter then front.
2468 different
1357 different
in stock cooling routing.
Then there times front hotter from fan
blowing air on heads .
Sb2 solved many uneven temps.
there are time's I would like not knowing .

 

Saw this on the flow cooler website, it mentions this pump helps with zips drives

 

Pump I got a Summit the impeller was aluminum color. Guess they offer two different part numbers. Was somewhat higher than the price posted.

 

I changed to a flow cooler pump. I have a mild 360 hp 350 and my temps dropped from 180 to 200 to now 170 temp. In all due honesty all I changed was pump. One thing I noticed on old pump that only had about 1500 miles on it was that I believe the old pump impeller was reversed from flow cooler. I talking about the blade direction.

 

Wonder if any of you knowlegable Zippy Riser users tell me if I have the heater hose routing correct, please?
