I know this riser uses a six cylinder water pump but is there a certain part number? my pump seems to move water too slow, maybe some six cylinder pumps have a different impeller depending on six cylinder engine size? help anyone? at a long light or a couple of em' the temp gauge starts to climb rapidly, then if i rev the heck out of it it drops rapidly but the light better be turnin' green! whats up. Anyone?
I use a 69 Nova ... no A/C water pump from Car Quest Auto. I add a plate to the rear But now, FlowKooler sells a 6 cylinder Chevy pump with a plate already on it ... for $68.95 Go here ... http://flowkoolerwaterpumps.com/catalog2/product_info.php?cPath=1_16_81&products_id=86 Their site says Other Special Features: Pump can rotate in either direction Pump is frequently used with Zip Riser set-up Has large and small fan hub bolt patterns Fits Chevrolet, GM applications I also buy a GM valve made for purging the air out of the system. But, the main thing is using the correct pulleys. Zips list the correct GM part numbers on their instructions and I have found that using something different usually does not work as well.
Deuce Roadster, that's a nice looking fan shroud you show in your pic. Is that custom made or available to buy somewhere? I've been following your posts on Zip risers for awhile now and pretty much decided to use one on my '31 hiboy w/sbc. Dave Dave
I've got the zips housing I use a 6 cyl chevy pump and a 6in pulley Dayco belt#15570 if you use a 5 in pulley use Dayco belt #15555 ,if you use a 32 style radiator a Gate hose #20225 will work. Hope this helps, Bob
It is a Walker radiator shroud made especially for the 1932 Ford radiator. They also have them for other popular models. They are available at most Hot Rod stores. I bought mine from fellow HAMBER Shane T ... @ Southern Rods and Parts.
