Reengineer it a bit.Move the pump to one side and incorporate a mount so an alternator could fit between the thermostat housing and the valve cover? Someone that has one should send it to @SDS so he could scan it. Then push the ****on on the printer and it is done? Sounds easy.

I'm no machinist by any stretch, I didn't even have a dial caliper larger then 6" (need to find one).
A few years ago, I ***umed that I would need one for a car I was building but being a cheapskate, I took my existing Zip's housing and built a crude jig from it so that I could make my own out of s**** stuff I had laying around. When it was finished, turns out I didn't need it so I gave it away to a friend who was building a Model A.
IF they have a patent, you only have to change it by around 20% to avoid their claims. Changing from a casting to CNC and moving a few things around should satisfy. There is plenty of prior art showing un-pateneted devices that do similar.
Could the riser be made of composite material, maybe with metal reinforcing points for pump mounting?
Since I only know manual machining, how would a CNC machines cutter navigate it way thru to make the runners so coolant can p*** thru is why I’m asking. Or is that a parting line I see? As in a 2 piece construction?

With today's CNC and laser-cutting technology/availability, it could be made without casting relatively cheaply - especially en-m***e. you'd have to have the front plate bolt-on with a gasket to create the inner chamber - as it's CNC'd, a gland for a large o-ring could be easily machined and that could eliminate the need for a gasket
Two things. One positive the other a factor needing further attention. L6 blocks do not have a raised mating surface for the water pump like the Zip riser does so a flat plate will do. The concerning factor is proper clamp force along the four straight edges. Bosses along the outer edges would need to be added. So, will the m***es like/accept this?
My self thought I hade a extra. billet or cast 2 pice , carbonfiber with like 15 or so 1/4 bolts O ring like 2 pice timing cover . If those do want look cast , sand could be added for texture. Most drive there vehicles Not with tire's they want
I think if they were CNC machined they would have to be in 2 pieces and bolt together. I can't see how a milling machine could reach down inside the runners?
Yes, not having the raise area will make it easier to produce the "lid". There will be screws around the perimeter to clamp the halves together. Everything will have attention to design detail as for it not to look too modern. One accurate measurement I really need is from the pump mating surface to the block mounting surfaces. That offset is VERY important.

legs could be bored from ends and fitted with pipe plugs but billet aluminum that thick is expensive.
In the 90's we made a Flathead billet timing cover to compliment the 409 pump kit. That was all CNC machined.. Back then we had to get $500 to make a few bucks. With the increased cost of CNC time and the cost of a chunk of aluminum that big the cost today would be prohibitive.
@SDS I would like to be in same town , I have so many Idles , I think even Sbf easily could be mad in way like Zip . Back in 90 I shared a Thought on a freon /ac type deal , 15-20 yrs Mopar made . I was in old shop few yrs back racers they where into Super Stock & pro comp They had 4 B-P's all connected together To duplicate parts . When younger I had a Pro mod & Mountain motor pro stock was arrested and some things & me I also hung around sealocks shop Who did some R&D for Enderle 90's Like to make it to Oz to be @ Joe Blow shop In my vision I could make from crude to som way Eye appealing, Not a sbf pump thoe
If you have a clean CAD model, you can get online quotes pretty easily. Domestic or offshore machine shops. Price goes down as the quan***y goes up.
There is an old build thread here on the hamb posted by reyn from Saskatchewan on his building a Model A hiboy. In it, you can see the water pump riser setup he made.
IF anyone cares...... There are tons of videos about CNC machining on THE TUBE, some are a little boring (pun), some are crazy to watch chow down stock, especially aluminum.

regarding a few posts above 'simple way' discussion-could you just make a simple one w/ 4 flanges and two pieces of sq/rd tube ( even pipe?-)--i know this ignores alternator and accessory stuff-but.....
