I have a NOS original one hidden away for my Model A build had it for at least 25 years . It has AC compressor mounts and such on it . Seems like some one would be still making them the patent must be up id think .
I don't know if anyone saw my reply to @SDS, it had my measurements in his quote box (yesterday post #64). "For starters; Diameter of water holes 1.102-1.111 Center to center measurement on water holes 8 7/16" Diameter of water pump hole 3.557 All bolt hole diameters (through holes and threaded) .404-.409 into block and new water pump threaded holes are a 5/16" bolt. Depth from water pump mounting face to bottom of inside cavity .804-.812 new pump cavity and 1.375 in each runner into that bolts to the engine block. At some point, detailed dimensions of the left and right side bracketry I can 3D print one from nylon and mail it if you'll do a fitment check and give feedback"
Also the channel to the by p*** hole is about 1/2" wide. It has bosses for the lower 6cyl water pump bolts that are in the middle of the coolant path from the block water pump ports. Byp*** hole on 6cyl water pump: And water pump with plate on back of impeller (cheap one I use for mock up):
Well heard a knock while driving my coupe. Today I get down close a wiggle the fan. Water pump is the clunk. Went to summit an got the flow cooler pump. It has the closed impeller. I had used a Jbox cover trimmed to fit the old pump impeller. Pop riveted in place. Did that in about 2014. Curious to see how it looks now.
I have only seen afew that where cast Iron. I do not think Zipps . I have a relative with one that cast Iron kind of think its a 70's . But rest of car is Pre 68 parts
Just stumbled across this thread, And I admit I did not read every post. One thing to keep in mind here is that As stated above "making this part is not rocket science" That being said one big thing to keep in mind here is that if these were in high demand, We would not be having this discussion! Vintage air is a company who knows better than most how to get things done. Them not producing them is not because they can't find a Vendor to cast them! They are not being produced because they are something that doesen't sell well. I have used many of them in the past and have seen threads on here of guys liking the product but complaining about the cost. Foundry time and cost for a item like this cost money! Machining cost money! Hotrodding cost money! Whoever decides to take on reproducing these had better understand up front that most likely they will be putting out good money for bad. I know all too well of what it is like producing parts that everyone seems to want because it is not available. But the minute it becomes available again they will calm down and not be interested anymore. The late Great "Don Orosco" warned me of this years ago. And I can say with out a doubt he knew what he was talking about. I'm not saying don't do it as I think someone should. And if I were not focused on other projects in my life right now I would step up and probably do it based on a limited run. Because I am tired of guys who made great parts like this that has made hotrodding great Dying off and not being able to get the parts. Holley can **** my *** for buying up all the great companys and then discontinuing All the iconic brands and parts just because they don't fit the "C10 farm truck LS trend Crowd" Anyhow Goodluck
According to the late Deuce Roadster (Randy Nash) the first Zips Risers were cast iron, after that they were aluminum.
I ran across this offered by Vintage Air at some point in time but I guess it has been discontinued because the riser looks like the Zips, but I guess you could give them a call and ask. HRP Vintage Air Chevy water pump riser
