ZZ is coming to town here in June. That is one band I will pay the ridiculous concert ticket prices to see. They are just COOL. Don
Don't know about the music, or car this time, but that looked like one BIG advert for new dentures!!! The hairy guys both sporting HUGE new sets of ill-fitting chompers!!!! Wooohoooo!! Go Go chimp boys!
ZZ Top andthe Fabulous Thunderbirds was my first concert. Cool car, I dont know about the rest of that stuff though.
Man, I don't know what kind of *** watches that video and comes away talkin' about somebody's teeth...get a life you hater!!!
Those guys are the essence of cool. Seem them 3 times (1979, 1984, 2000) and they were always great. I'm a big Billy G. fan. He is a very hip, very stylish guy, both as an person and as an artist. I know a lot of fans came aboard after the Eliminator album back in the early '80s, but to really hear the true sound of ZZ Top, you have to hear their first 3 albums (ZZ Top's First Album, Rio Grande Mud, and Tres Hombres). On the early stuff, Billy played all the tracks using his most prized Les Paul, named Pearly Gates, and the sound coming from that guitar is freaking perfection. If you think those dentures are their new teeth, then you just got played by the band. Every one of their videos has certain tricks to draw your attention. Texas blues, BBQ, and Hot Rods. Doesn't get much better than that.......
Saw Billy Gibbons as I was walking out of the Continental club, I was in shock he stuck his hand out to shake my hand, the guy oozes cool. I bet these idiots knocking ZZ TOP are Beiber fans, bunch of busters.
I saw ZZ in 1974. Hell, I still havent recovered. My "Bucket List" Includes a Mexifeast as featured on the inside of the Tres hombres album. I bought a sleeve at a yard sale and have it hangin in the garage.
yea I made a little joke about there pearly white's..... but talk **** about these boy's and you wont last long here! aside from how bad *** they are as a band (and still going strong) billy's a hard core car guy!
As a side note, there's a new book out called "Billy F Gibbons Rock and Roll Gearhead" that goes into the history of how the band came together, profiles most of his cars, and of note to some on here, profiles his guitar collection. Its a big "coffee table" style book with a ****load of great pictures. The cars and guitars are off the hook cool.
ZZ TOP! ZZ TOP! ZZ TOP! My OLDEST friends! From 5th grade on,you can ALWAYS count on them to put you in a good mood!I feel the best at a ZZ show,or drivin my chopped 49,lookin down the pointed hood through an 11" window, rockin some 'Just Got Paid'...aweyeah! Billy is a SUPER guy,Ive only met him once and he made sure I felt at home,"grab a beer and have a seat" listen to him jam for a few hours,he asked me for my card and later sent me his book and a shirt! What other legend/famous guy would do that?
Never forget the time back around 85, Billy walked into the shop where I was working. I was painting murals on custom vans. (ever heard of Good Times Vans)? Anyhow he was in town for a concert and stopped by to see the guy who was the production manager and my boss. He had a ranch south of the metroplex area in a place called Red Oak. Billy was sportin a baby blue satin cowboy suit and white ostrich skin cowboy boots. He and my boss (his nick name was "Happy"), took off for a few hours in the white cadillac Billy was drivin. It had the big long horns mounted on the hood and louder than hell with a "La Coocaracha" horn on it. Anyhow a short time after lunch they returned and as Billy was walkin around and I noticed the *** of his pants were ripped out. The story was that he and Hap cruised back to his house and they ventured out to the back fourty to pick a few buds from Hap's special crop. Which he frequently did when he was in the area. He ripped his fancy drawers crawlin over one of Hap's barbed wire fences. He's one of the greatest guys you'll ever meet bein as famous as he is. Hes also one major hot rod freak. ZZ Top are royalty here in Texas and they certainly deserve some accolades for what they've done to promote hot rodding. Their music reflects what they love...Texas, hot rods, booze, weed and women. God love em !
