My dad was in Ford sales since I was 1 year old. My older brother and I learned all about cool old cars by reading hot rod car mags and building model cars as kids. First exposed to drag racing in 1963, at Lassiter Mountain Dragway near Birmingham. We went there to watch John Donilson, who drove a 1963 Galaxie lightweight for Jim Skinner Ford, the dealership where dad was General Manager. The mechanic on the car was Harry Littleton. In 1964, a new Fairlane Thunderbolt Super Stocker named the Dixie Stripper replaced the Galaxie.
