Started in my mid teens souping up Cushman Scooters, thereafter a '51 Mercury with a quest for acceleration & speed. Next I built a '53 Studebaker stuffed with a '425 Buick with dual quads, a real sleeper in disguise. Eventually opened up my own repair garage and discovered legitimate drag racing where one could compete against the clock and like interested neighbors. Over the following years, I built & drove faster machines & raced around the country from time to time. 1971 in Cleves Ohio, my three week old Dodge Charger did a wheelie in the traps about 200 mph. Destroyed the car & broke me up a little. Had another car built by Romeo Palamides, after I could walk again, a rear engine Injected Hemi Funny '71 Plym. Duster. When the wife found out about the car, I had to choose which life I wanted. Still married, still working in the same shop.Interact
