Growing up my parents were always buying and selling cars. Mostly 60s-70s stuff at the time. That's where my interest started. My first cars were mostly 70's and I did little to them other than junk them up with stereos and other high-schooler crap. I spent years living in Seattle with only street parking and was allowed to do a little in the shop at my work until they decided it was a "liability" to have my stuff parked their. It wasn't an auto shop. Just an industrial hyd shop. I have space now where I can have my project(s) safe in my own driveway and I'm diving in. I first saw the rear of a 54 Chevy in a magazine ad but it was a couple years later before I saw one chopped with a front view and realized what it actually was I had been looking at. (The taillights are so recognizable to me now but I wasn't that familiar with non tri-fives at the time). For the most part, I encounter two types of people: Those that treat mechanical stuff like sorcery and those that are willing to work on it. I don't think there is anything more satisfying than working through a problem, finding a solution and fixing it. (usually uncovering three new problems at the same time).
