About
My father worked on his cars because he couldn't afford to pay a mechanic and he didn't trust them to do the job right and I helped as much as I could , first just handing him wrenches and watching his every move and learning how to fix things myself . He gave me a 49 ford coupe on my 14th b-day and I learned to do body work on it ,and then the 55 merc for my 17th christmas , it had been parked 10 years and I had to do the brake and fuel systems myself and I did the body work and paint myself I had to pay for everything myself , no allowance , I worked for every penny . I wanted a hood scoop at one time but something that looked factory to that body style so I grafted a 54 merc hood scoop on to my 55 hood . Then in my twenties I got a wild hair and set the engine back 24 inches , now it just sits as a shell rusting in the pole barn , it saddens me to see it so , but at this time there's nothing I can do about it . I got a 31 model coupe almost 30 years ago and haven't been able to build it for raising a family , I finaly got the chance to build one and had to choose so I chose the A , thought it would be cheaper to build and faster to get done .Interact
